BROWN A celebration of life will be held at 2:00 pm, Saturday, August 16, 2014, at the Haynesville United Methodist Church, Haynesville, LA, for Mr. Delton H. "Duck" Brown, age 80, with Pastor Nann McMullen officiating. Interment will follow in Old Town Cemetery, Haynesville under the direction of Bailey Funeral Home. Visitation will be held Friday, August 15, 2014 from 5:00 pm until 7:00 pm at Bailey Funeral Home, Haynesville. Mr. Brown was born on March 9, 1934 to Harvey and Jewel Lee Brown in Summerfield , LA and passed away on Wednesday, August 13, 2014 in Ruston, LA after a lengthy illness. He graduated from Homer High School. Then moved to Haynesville and served in the Army for two years as a medic. He worked for seventeen years at the Army Ammunition Plant in Minden, LA, Fowler Trucking and the Claiborne Parish School Board. Horses were his passion. He was a member of the Missouri Fox Trotters Association, where he and Molly met many lifelong friends. He is survived by his wife, Molly Harp Brown; daughter, Melissa Sparkman and husband, Jerry of Bossier City, LA; two granddaughters, Mandy Sparkman, Jamie Sparkman; two brothers, Duane Brown and wife, Claire and Leo Brown both of Homer; two sisters-in-law, Linda Harp Alexander and husband, Albert, Nita Brown; many loving nieces and nephews; and a host of other friends and family. Mr. Brown was preceded in death by his parents, twin brother, Shelton Brown, brother, Paul Brown, niece, Donna Brown Bass, and sister-in-law, Margaret Moreland. Pallbearers will be Pat Brown, David Brown, Cecil Hauser, Gary Tidwell, Alan Serjeant, Joe Tannehill, Kent Toney, and Ed Best.
