Interment will follow at Mulhearn Memorial Park Cemetery, under the direction of Mulhearn Funeral Home, Sterlington Road, Monroe. Mr. Brown passed away on Saturday, March 4, 2017 in Monroe, LA. Sperry Allen Brown, Sr. was born January 5, 1944 in Dallas, TX. He then moved to Monroe, LA at a young age. Sperry attended and graduated from Neville High School in 1961. He not only played for the Neville State Championship Football team in 1959 but also for the Neville State Championship Baseball team in 1961, two accomplishments that he was always proud to be part of. Following high school, Sperry attended Northeast Louisiana University, where he played football, met his wife and graduated in Business Administration. After moving to Texas following college graduation, he and his wife Sharon returned to Monroe, LA to make their home and raise a family. He was a member of First United Methodist Church. Sperry was an avid hunter, golfer and fisherman. Over the past few years, he was devoted to morning get-togethers and "gripe sessions" with his dear friends at McDonald's. Once the McDonald's session was adjourned, they all moved down the street to Aron's Pharmacy to have lunch and start up the story and joke telling. He dearly loved his family and grandchildren. His past time was spent watching his grandchildren involved in all of their activities. As much as he loved his family and being involved, he was that much more loved by his friends and family. His devotion, humor and love will be greatly missed by all. Mr. Brown was preceded in death by his parents, Samuel Charles and Victoria Pappas Brown. Survivors include his wife of 50 years, Sharon Thigpen Brown; children, Stacy Embanato and Sperry Allen Brown, Jr. and wife Jennifer; grandchildren, Kylie Embanato, Kade Embanato, Braeden Brown, Bennett Brown and Sam Brown; sisters, Sandra Perkins and husband Danny Ray, Angela Hathcock; brother, J.T.
