HOWARD BROWN Kilpatrick Funeral Home West Monroe Funeral services for Howard Brown, Jr. (Tony) 81, of West Monroe, LA will be at 10:00 AM Monday, April 20, 2009 at Pleasant Hill Church, West Monroe, LA with Bro. George Jacobs and Bro. Michael Sims officiating. Interment will immediately follow at Pleasant Hill Cemetery, West Monroe, under the direction of Kilpatrick Funeral Home-West Monroe. Mr. Brown was born on March 26, 1928, in Chicago, IL and passed away April 16, 2009 in Monroe, LA. He was a Veteran of the U.S. Navy and the treasurer of Pleasant Hill Church for 45 years. He was a teacher at Mitchell and Claiborne Elementary Schools and principal of Woodlawn School for a total of 30 years. He was preceded in death by his parents, Mr. and Mrs. J. H. Brown and his brother, Kenneth Brown. He is survived by his wife of 58 years, Neva Kilpatrick Brown; his brother, Maxwell Brown and wife Margie; two sons, John and wife Sheila of AR, and Scott of TX; daughters, Judy Burchett and husband Tracy of OK, and Vicky Powell of LA; ten grandchildren, Brian Sweitzer, Jennifer Wright and husband Michael, Casey Gray and husband John, Katey Stimek and husband Chris, Brandon Brown and wife Leah, Megan Brown, Andrew Brown, Jenny Shuffield and husband Brock, Katherine Brown, and Ethan Brown; five great-grandchildren, Meagan Smith, Morgan Sweitzer, Cason and Cooper Gray, Gabriel Shuffield, and is expecting the arrival of the sixth, Lillian, in July; and numerous other friends and family. Pallbearers will be his grandsons and nephews. Honorary pallbearers will be Oscar Head, Roy Lee Simms, and Jimmy White. Visitation will be 5:00 P.M. until 8:00 P.M. Sunday, April 19, 2009 at Kilpatrick Funeral Home, West Monroe. The family would like to thank all of the staff at Stoneybrook Assisted Living and Southern Care Hospice for all their kindness and compassion during this difficult time.
