Larry Stafford officiating. Interment will follow at Hasley Cemetery under the direction of Kilpatrick Funeral Home of West Monroe, LA. Mrs. Bruce, 76, of West Monroe, died Sunday, December 30, 2007, at her home in West Monroe. Born November 26, 1931, in Alexandria, LA., Mrs. Bruce lived in Tallulah before settling in West Monroe. Mrs. Bruce was co-owner of Bruce Plumbing Company in West Monroe with her son, Charlie Prophit, and previously with her husband, Bill Bruce. Mrs. Bruce is survived by her five sons, Harry G. Prophit IV and wife Alice, Charlie Prophit and wife Virginia, David Prophit and wife Nora, all of West Monroe, LA., Russ Prophit and wife Kathy of Winter Haven, FL., Matt Prophit and wife Dalton of Indian Lakes Estates, FL.; five grandchildren, Breanna Young and husband E. Orum Young, III, Heather Prophit and Brantley Booth Prophit of West Monroe, LA., Jesse Prophit and wife Dana of Sarasota, FL., Nicholas Prophit of Rayville, LA.; and two great-grandchildren, Renee and Elijah Young. She is preceded in death by her husband William D. "Bill" Bruce and her parents Hubert and Theodore Gaspard of Tallulah. As a young woman, Mrs. Bruce enjoyed raising her 5 sons, boating on the Ouachita River, hunting and fishing, and snow-skiing in Colorado. In her later years, Mrs. Bruce greatly loved her extended family of her sons and their wives, her grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. She was a kind-hearted person who loved her pets and working in her yard. Donations can be made to the American Heart Association, National Center, 7272 Greenville Avenue, Dallas, Texas, 75231, or to a preferred charity in honor of Mrs. Bruce.
