Nellie Mae Bryan, 87, a native of Blaine, MS, died Sunday, November 9, 2014, at Our Lady of the Lake Regional Medical Center, Baton Rouge, Louisiana. Graveside service will be held at Evergreen Cemetery, Carrolton, MS, Saturday, November 15, 2014 at 1:00 PM, under the direction of Charlet Funeral Home, Inc. Miss Bryan was a Registered Nurse. She began her career at Memphis Baptist Hospital around 1946 and went on to work at St. Francis Medical Center in Monroe, LA until retirement. She was a Student of the Greenwood Leflore School of Nursing, with an Affiliation Period at Louisiana State University School of Nursing at the Charity Hospital in New Orleans, LA. Her hobbies included oil painting, gardening and sewing. She was preceded in death by her parents, Daniel Russell Bryan and Katie Lavinia Sikes; three brothers, Daniel Russell Bryan Jr., William Edward Bryan and Robert Lee Bryan; brother-in-law, Jack Wallace Campbell; and two sisters- in-law, ElFrieda Wick Bryan and Madge Harris Bryan. Miss. Bryan is survived by her sister, Katherine Campbell, of Harlem, GA, and many nieces and nephews and great nieces and nephews, who loved her dearly and will miss her always. The family would like to offer special thanks to all of Aunt Nellie's neighbors on Duncan Circle as well as her church family, who helped her so much through the years, especially Lucinda Stringer. The family is also thankful to the Staff Members at Oakwood Assisted Living and North Point Heath Care who cared for Aunt Nellie with so much love.
