Mulhearn Funeral Home Sterlington Road, Monroe, LA Funeral services for Mr. William Sidney "Bill" Buckley Jr. of Monroe, LA will be held at 11:00 AM Friday, September 19, 2008 at Graceminister Presbyterian Church with Rev. Steven S. Bryant and Rev. Jack B. Phelps officiating. Interment will follow at Mulhearn Memorial Park Cemetery. Mr. Buckley was born in Monroe and died on September 17, 2008, at the age of 78. He attended Neville High School, Marion Military Academy and Louisiana Tech University. He served the U.S. Army in Germany during the Korean Conflict, and married Hazel Chambliss on December 8, 1956, to whom he was married for forty-three years. Bill was an entrepreneur and founded Buckley's Auto Service in the 1960's and later founded B & L Marine in Lakeshore where he and his wife served customers for twenty-four years. He was an active member of Graceminister Presbyterian Church in Monroe and an ordained deacon. Bill was an avid outdoorsman and enjoyed boating, hunting, and fishing. He especially enjoyed spending time with his family and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents, William S. "Willie" Buckley, Sr. and Lucille McHenry Buckley; his wife, Hazel Chambliss Buckley; brother, Albert W. Buckley. Survivors include daughters, Ruth B. McDonald and husband Patrick of Monroe, LA, Mary B. Clark and husband Kip of Madison, MS, and Martha B. D'Amico and husband Dan of Madison, MS; five grandchildren, Erin Clark, Nicklas McDonald, Emily Clark, Sidney D'Amico, and Shelby D'Amico. Pallbearers will be C.E. Synder, Fred Fox, David Jacobs, Earnest Breard, David Clark, and Bob Willsher. Honorary pallbearers will be Jim Goleman, V.W. Tidwell, Delbert Henderson, and Sam Loftis. Visitation will be from 5:00 PM until 7:00 PM Thursday, September 18, 2008 at Mulhearn Funeral Home, Sterlington Road, Monroe, LA. The family expresses heartfelt gratitude to the staff on Wing II of the Louisiana War Veteran's Home in Monroe, and requests that memorials be sent to Graceminister Presbyterian Church in memory of Bill.
