A graveside service will be held at 3:00 p.m. on December 30, 2014, at Oakley Cemetery in Gilbert, Louisiana, under the direction of Gill First National Funeral Home in Winnsboro, Louisiana. Prior to the graveside, visitation will take place at First Baptist Church, Wisner, Louisiana, at 1:00 p.m. Jon was born on December 26, 1979, in Winnsboro, Louisiana. He graduated salutatorian of the 1997 graduating class of Gilbert High School. He went on to earn a bachelor's degree from Louisiana Tech University and a masters degree from Middle Tennessee State University. Jon and his wife Kelsey were filmmakers and together they created a successful film business in the Nashville area. He died on December 23, 2014, in his home following a lengthy battle with cancer. Jon was preceded in death by his brother, Brandon Wade Bufkin. Jon is survived by his wife Kelsey; his parents, Ken and Lou Bufkin of Arlington, Texas; his grandparents, Wade and Olivia Bufkin of Gilbert, Louisiana; his sister, Jessica Bufkin of Nashville, Tennessee; his twin brother, Justin Bufkin and wife Meredith of Woodworth, Louisiana; mother-in- law, Bev Gaushell of Monroe, Louisiana; brother-in-law, Morgan Gaushell of Monroe, Louisiana; and nephews Sawyer and Jaxon Bufkin and niece Mia Bufkin. Honorary pallbearers are Jeremy Carney, Eric Dill, Chris Gaston, Matt Hogan, Kurt Knoll, Ryan Pflasterer, Ethan Thon, and Nathan Wright. Jon served on the board of directors for Son Valley Ranch, a ministry to children who come from broken homes.
