Mel was a unique and caring individual who touched the lives of all who knew her. In all aspects of her life, she had a dedication to her love of horses, travel, work and friends. She graduated from River Oaks School and attended Millsaps College and ULM. Growing up in Monroe, Melanie's passion for horses turned into a twelve year youth career showing American Quarter Horses as well as her many activities with her beloved Alma Mater, River Oaks School. Her love of travel launched her 35 year career in the hospitality industry advancing to the position of Regional Director of Revenue Management for Davidson Hotel Company of Atlanta and the New Orleans Intercontinental Hotel. She was preceded in death by her parents William Wesley and Lanelle Buller of Monroe; grandparents, Ansel and Lender Buller, and Constance and William Lutz. She is survived by sister, Leigh Ann Buller Schroeder and her husband Ronald Dean Schroeder of China, Texas; Aunt, Billie June Reardon, Tallahassee, Florida; Cousins, Bevin Reardon and Russell Reardon; honorary parents Flip and Frank Spooner. Memorial service will be on Wednesday, May 20 at 2 pm at First United Methodist Church, 3900 Loop Road followed by a private burial. Visitation will be from 12:30 PM until the time of service at 2:00 PM on Wednesday. In lieu of flowers, expressions of sympathy may be made to River Oaks School, 600 Finks Hideaway Road, Monroe, Louisiana 71203.
