RICHARD LEE BURRELL

Funeral services for Richard Lee Burrell, 88, will be held at 11:00 a.m. 
Saturday, March 22, 2014 at Smith Funeral Home, 907 Winnsboro Road Monroe, 
Louisiana. Officiating will be Reverend Edward Williams Jr. Interment will 
follow in Magnolia Cemetery, Monroe, La.

Burrell passed away Friday March 14, 2014 following a short time illness.

The family will receive friends at Smith Funeral Home from 1:00 p.m. to 6:00 
p.m. on Friday, March 21, 2014.

Richard Burrell served in the U.S. Navy as a cook during the 1940's in Asia 
Pacific. He was retired after working for many years with Dixie Bedding and 
Furniture Company as a "straw boss" in the warehouse.

Richard Burrell was born on February 22, 1926 in Monroe, La to the late Rachel 
and Peter Burrell. He was preceded in death by his parents Rachel Basterfield 
Burrell and Peter Burrell and by his beloved wife Juanita "Sister Baby" Jones, 
one daughter Mary, four sisters Benonia Burrell, Rose Mary B. Robinson, 
Katherine Burrell and Ruthie B. Hughes and four brothers Peter Burrell Jr., 
Columbus Burrell, James "Chuck" Burrell and David Burrell.

Survivors include four daughters Elizabeth Burrell Green (George), Oprah, 
Linda, and Irma Jean and three sons Richard Jr., Tommy and James, and several 
grandchildren, great-grandchildren all of California, one sister-in-law Margie 
Burrell of Monroe, La and a host of devoted nieces, nephews and many other 
relatives and friends.
