She and her older sister, Jeri, lived in West Monroe with parents, Bill and Jeannie Dortch Hargrove and near grandparents, Ocie and Rhoda King Dortch. Bobbie was definitely "a people person" as she described herself. She loved to roller skate and to wear Shirley Temple dresses with curls in her blonde hair. She also loved dancing and met husband, Al Roethlisberger, at a dance at Selman Field during World War II. The morning after their wedding on August 13, 1945, Bobbie and Al were awakened by a phone call from her mother who announced "The War is Over!". Bobbie said bells were ringing and car horns were blowing all that day. The couple soon moved to Pennsylvania where Al, an entrepreneur and inventor, had been born and raised. They prospered and raised two sons, Al and Dale, there. Widowed in 1977, Bobbie moved with her son, Al, wife, Barbara and their son, also Al, to Texas where Bobbie married John Cain whose work took them to Japan for a year and then back to Houston. Sadly, Bobbie became a widow again after only a few years. Bobbie came home to Monroe/West Monroe 19 years ago and lived again near her son, Al and family of three children, Al, John and Anne Alicia. Bobbie loved to visit and travel with her son, Dale and his wife, Ronna, of the Washington D.C. area. She loved nothing more than listening to Dale's guitar playing and attending gatherings with Ronna's family on their yacht, in Washington, D.C. and in Florida. Bobbie was blessed with four great grandchildren; Charlotte through grandson Al; James, Jaydan (J.J.) and newborn Isabella, children of Anne Alicia, all of whom Bobbie visited with recently. She also had treasured visits with her sister, Jeri, niece Rebecca, grandson John who was home from the University of Louisiana at LaFayette, with grandson Al and Denise and family at their home in North Carolina where we gathered in mid-November.. Bobbie's Thanksgiving and Christmas found her happy and feeling like celebrating the holidays, which she did with son Al and family, Barbara's mother, Mrs. Pearlie May and Barbara's brother, Jeff May, which she had done each year since she came home again. We have all been blessed...We love you, Bobbie! Funeral services are 1:00 P.M. on Monday in the Chapel of the Kilpatrick Funeral Home of West Monroe with Bro. Waymond Warren officiating. Interment is in Hasley Cemetery. Visitation is Sunday evening from 5:00 to 7:00 P.M. at Kilpatricks of West Monroe.
