Friday, April 15, 2016 in the chapel of Mulhearn Funeral Home West Monroe, LA with Mr. Richard Anderson officiating. Interment will follow in the Roselawn Memorial Gardens in Calhoun, LA. Mr. Calhoun was born on June 14, 1932 and passed away in West Monroe, LA on April 12, 2016. He served in the United States Army and was a member of the AM Vets Post 66. Mr. Calhoun owned Executive Office Furniture for 35 years. He served as Past President of the West Monroe Jaycee's and was very active in the West Monroe Boys and Girls Club. He also was a big supporter of Charitable Gaming. Mr. Charles had a servants heart to help those who had needs such as churches, teachers, community organizations, and homeless families and friends. He was given the nickname "Bulldog" in his high school years, playing football at Neville High School. He went on to play at Northeast Junior College (NLU). Mr. Calhoun loved traveling to watch his children and grandchildren play sports. He is preceded in death by his wife of 47 years, Sybil Young Calhoun. Survivors include his children, Sharlis Underwood and husband, Marvin, Brad Calhoun and wife, Denise, and Cindy McBlair and husband, Scott; grandchildren, Cory Underwood and wife, Courtney, Taylor Underwood and wife, Jadie, Peyton Underwood, Charles Justin Calhoun, Macy McBlair and Savannah McBlair; and great grandson, Zeke Underwood. Mr. Calhoun's Sons-in-Law and Grandsons will serve as Pallbearers. Visitation will be held from 5:00 P.M. until 7:00 P.M. Thursday, April 14, 2016 at Mulhearn Funeral Home West Monroe, LA. Memorials may be made in Mr. Calhoun's honor to the Food Bank of Northeast Louisiana.
