Interment will be by family ceremony at the Columbarium in the Memorial Garden of First Presbyterian Church, and visitation with the family will follow the service. Mr. Carbrey was born August 17, 1923, in Columbia, Mississippi, and passed away January 3, 2013, in Georgetown, Texas. After his graduation with a degree in Mechanical Engineering from the University of Michigan in 1948, Mr. Carbrey moved to Monroe, Louisiana, to begin work with Ford, Bacon & Davis Construction Company. He later became employed with Columbian Carbon Company, where he worked as Chief Engineer until his retirement. Mr. Carbrey loved traveling with his family and shared many wonderful trips with his wife Alice, his daughter, and his granddaughters. He also was an avid golfer and he enjoyed both woodworking and swimming. He was preceded in death by his wife, Alice Brauer Carbrey; brothers, Russell Carbrey and Austin Carbrey; and sister, Lula Rusling. Mr. Carbrey is survived by his son, William Lee Carbrey, Jr. and wife, Marguerite, of Slidell, LA; daughter, Elizabeth Carbrey Weaver and husband, Ron, of Georgetown, TX; granddaughters, Caitlin Elizabeth Campbell and husband, Bobby, of West Monroe; Kristin Carbrey of Jackson, MS; Caroline Carbrey of Slidell, LA; Erin Weaver of Bryan, TX; and Anna Weaver of Georgetown, TX. The family requests that, in lieu of flowers, donations be made to the Genealogy Room of the Ouachita Parish Library or to First Presbyterian Church of Monroe.
