The service will be officiated by Rev. Howard Childs and Rev. Johnny Hankins. Mr. Carpenter, a native of Winnsboro, was born on November 8, 1923 and passed away at his residence surrounded by his family on October 29, 2008 following a lengthy illness. At his request, his body has been donated to LSU Health Sciences Center, Shreveport. He retired from the U.S. Postal Service after a thirty-two year career, serving both as a letter carrier and a rural carrier. He served in the United States Navy during World War II. After a tour of duty in Japan, he was awarded the Asiatic Pacific Ribbon, the American Theatre Ribbon, and the Victory Medal. He was preceded in death by his parents, Marvin and Ruby Anderson Carpenter, and a brother, Joe Carpenter of Baton Rouge. He is survived by his wife of sixty-one years: Christine Ellerman Carpenter; a daughter and son-in-law: Kaye and Gene Boquet; a grandson: Paul Anderson Boquet. The family would like to express their sincere appreciation to Dr. Thomas L. Colvin and the staff of Hospice T.L.C. for their loving care and concern during his illness. Memorials may be made in the form of a donation to First United Methodist Church, 1502 West St. Winnsboro, LA., or a charity of the donor's choice.
