Francis Guy officiating. Interment will follow in Holly Grove Cemetery under the direction of Gill First National Funeral Home. The beautiful life of Mrs. Mildred Martile Carroll came to an end Thursday, July 11, 2013, Mrs. "Boots" or "Boots, as she was affectionately called, is survived by her loving and faithful husband of 69 years, Mr. William Edward Carroll - Mr. Bill. Mrs. "Boots" leaves a memorable legacy to her two children: Mr. Michael Carroll and Mr. Keith Carroll. "Mickey" the Administrator of Delhi Hospital and Clinic is married to Mrs. Sheila Carroll. Keith is presently living in New York and successfully works in the design industry. Mrs. Carroll is survived by four grandchildren- William "Bud" Carroll, Kennith Gibson, Jr., Sarah Carroll Hamauei, and Anna Carroll Thomas. She had ten great- grandchildren. Mrs. "Boots" was born January 8, 1927 in Wisner, Louisiana. Her parents were Mack and Francis Dampier. Mrs. Carroll was an active young woman engaged in various school organizations. During her senior year she met her husband, and they were married May 17, 1944, just before Mr. Bill enlisted in the Navy. He served two years on the USS Clinton in the Pacific Theater during World War II while Mrs. "Boots" waited anxiously at home with her parents. Mrs. "Boots" was employed for twenty-two years as a teller for Franklin State Bank. She was a faithful member of the Wisner United Methodist where she taught Sunday School to various age groups, sang in the Church Choir, served on the church council, and was an active member of the Methodist Women's Society. Not only was she a faithful servant to her church, but she was also active in the Wisner community serving as a member and past president of the Daffodil Garden Club. Serving as Pallbearers for Mrs. "Boots will be George Carroll, Jr., William "Bud" Carroll, Donnie Dampier, Phillip Dampier, Kennith Gibson, Jr., Thomas Hamauei, and Craig Thomas. In remembrance of Mrs. Boots the word "love" comes to mind. She loved God, she loved life, she loved her family, and she loved her friends…She was a sweet, kind, and gentle lady who will be missed, but will live in the hearts and minds of all who knew her.
