CARSTON Funeral Service for Mr. Henry Carston, Jr., 60 , of Monroe will be 1:00 PM Saturday, February 20, 2016 at the Kingdom Hall of Jehovah's Witnesses at 1604 Garrett Road, Monroe, LA 71202 with Bro. Leslie Fields Officiating and Bro. Eddie Davis as Chairman. Interment will follow at Mulhearn Memorial Park Cemetery. Henry Carston, Jr. fell asleep in death at his home on Monday, February 8, 2016. Born in Elizabeth, Louisiana to the late Henry Carston, Sr. and Clare Carston, he had been a resident of the Monroe area for 38 ½ years and was a faithful dedicated servant of Jehovah for 35 years. At the time of his death, he served as a ministerial servant in the South Monroe Congregation of Jehovah's Witnesses. Henry was preceded in death by his parents: Henry Carston, Sr. and Clara Carston; his maternal grandparents: Andrew and Almetry Jones; his paternal grandparents: Joseph and Lizzie Carston; and his sisters-in-law: Ann Carston and Mary Carston. He married his beloved wife Jackie on May 28, 1977 and together they raised three beautiful daughters: Chondra, Anika, and Sandrea'. Family was very important to Henry and he loved spending time with his daughters and granddaughters: Taylor, Elexandra, and 'Patty'. Henry graduated from Elizabeth High School and later received his Bachelor of Arts degree in Sociology from Grambling State University in 1976. He worked at IMC Fertilizer in Sterlington, LA as a grade five board operator and was later promoted to a shift supervisor. After IMC Fertilizer was purchased by Koch Nitrogen, he was promoted to assistant safety manager and later safety manager until he took early medical retirement in 2001 due to a rare kidney disease. However, after his retirement, he was able to dedicate more time to the thing he enjoyed most, serving Jehovah God. He had implicit faith in Jehovah's promises and found much comfort from scriptures such as Isaiah 33:24 where it says, "No resident will say: 'I am sick'" which was one of his favorite. Henry loved people and everyone who knew him enjoyed his calm demeanor, personality and positive attitude despite life's challenges. He was caring, hospitable and fun to be around. He felt that 'Jehovah's hand was not short' and the way he lived his life reflected that belief. He stayed busy in Jehovah's service right up until his death. Henry leaves to cherish his memories: his devoted wife of 38 ½ years, Jacqueline 'Jackie' Carston; three daughters: Chondra Carston of Frisco, TX; Anika and Sandrea Carston both of Monroe, LA; three granddaughters: Imyrri 'Patty' Charon of Frisco, TX; Taylor Newton of Frisco, TX; and Elexandra Lexing of Monroe, LA; his sister: Denice Bonam (DeWayne) of Omaha, NE; his brothers: Clayton Carston of San Antonio, TX and Charles (Qwen) Carston of Kent, WA; father-in-law: T.J. 'Tommy' (Lucy) Johnson of Farmerville, LA; and sister-in-law, Doris (Clifton) Wheeler of Humble, TX. Henry also leaves a host of other nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles, cousins and spiritual family that will miss him dearly. Visitation will be 5:00 PM until 7:00 PM Friday February 19, 2016 At Mulhearn Funeral Home, Sterlington Rd.
