Visitation will precede the service at 10:00 AM. The Reverend William Smith will officiate. A family grave side service will be held Thursday, November 15th in Forest, Mississippi. Lib, as she was fondly known, was born on February 1, 1921 in Branch, Mississippi and passed away on Monday, November 12, 2012. She was the only child born to Mary Ellie and Walter Edgar Coleman and with her smiling blue eyes was always called "Baby". Elizabeth spent her childhood in Mississippi attending Forest High School where she excelled in track and basketball. She attended MSCW and graduated from Mississippi College. In 1943, she married her childhood sweetheart, Hamlet Carter, and they began a life together with his career in the US ARMY. Lib loved the military life and in 1966, when Ham retired, she began her early education teaching career in Monroe, LA. She was the director of Covenant Presbyterian Day School and remembered many of her students until the end of life. She loved teaching children, being a homemaker, gardening and playing bridge. Lib was mother to four children, Hamlet III (Buster), Edgar, Ellie and Nancy Bea. She was an active member of Lakeshore Baptist Church where she taught Sunday School for 30 years. With God's grace she was truly a "Light unto the world". She was preceded in death by her beloved, Ham and one son, Buster. Survivors include her children, Edgar C. Carter (Nancy), Ellie Carter M. John (Howard), Nancy Carter Holloway (Don); her grandsons, Edwin S Moberley (Courtney), R. Carter Moberley (Jennifer), Matthew Carter, Benjamin Carter and Coleman Holloway; one granddaughter, Robin Nicole Holloway and three great grandchildren, Julia Elizabeth Moberley, Luke Stuart Moberley, and Elle Julianne Moberley. She is also survived by her sister-in-law Sarah Carter S Naugher of Pontotoc, Mississippi. Serving as pallbearers will be her grandsons, Edwin, Carter, Matthew, Benjamin and Coleman. There is no greater love than that of a mother and our wonderful memories of her will live on in the next generation. She will be deeply missed by all of us. The family thanks the Deerfield Nursing & Rehabilitation Nursing Center in Delhi, Louisiana for their loving care these past few years. Thank you, Queenie. Memorials may be made to Lakeshore Baptist Church, 308 Lakeshore Drive, Monroe, LA 71203 or the Chennault Aviation and Military Museum, 701 Kansas Lane, Monroe, LA.
