Monroe, Louisiana

Funeral services for Jesse L. Carter, Sr., 83, of Monroe, LA will be held on 
Saturday, September 6, 2008 at Kilpatrick Funeral Home of Monroe with Rev. 
William Smith officiating. Interment will follow at Union Cemetery in Caldwell 
Parish under the direction of Kilpatrick Funeral Home of Monroe.

Mr. Carter was born on January 19, 1925 in New Orleans, LA and passed away on 
September 3, 2008 in Monroe, LA. Mr. Carter earned an Associate Degree from 
NLSC, a B.S. from LSU, and an M.S. from NLU. He was retired from both the 
Ouachita Parish Health Unit and the U.S.D.A. He was a veteran of the U.S. 
Navy, serving as an Aviation Radioman 3rd Class on the U.S.S. Franklin in 
World War II. He served as a Scoutmaster for Boy Scout Troop 7 and was a 
member of the Vigil Honor for The Order of the Arrow and received the District 
Award of Merit. Mr. Carter was a member of Lakeshore Baptist Church.

Mr. Carter was preceded in death by his wife, Bettye Leckie Carter in 1995 and 
two grandchildren: Micah Carter and Steven LeCompte.

He is survived by his children: Jesse L. Carter, Jr. and wife, Karen, Madelon 
Carter Jordan and husband, William, Wynona Charmaine LeCompte, and Richard 
Edwin Carter II; brother: Richard E. Carter and wife, Viva; a number of nieces 
and nephews; five grandchildren and 3 great-grandchildren.

Visitation will be 5:00 PM to 7:00 PM, Friday, September 5, 2008 at Kilpatrick 
Funeral Home in Monroe, LA.
