Dr. C. Welton Gaddy officiating. Visitation will begin at 10:00 a.m. before the service. Holly Sue Bayne Casey passed away on February 26, 2016 at her home in Mandeville, Louisiana after a brief illness. Holly was born on November 14, 1945 in Monroe, Louisiana, the only child of the late Maurice Byron Bayne and Carletta "Tiny" Hollingsworth Bayne. Holly is survived by her daughter, Erin Casey Morizot and husband, David of Monroe, Georgia; her son Sean McCarthy Casey and wife, Margaret of Mandeville, Louisiana; and four grandchildren, William Casey Harrison, Benjamin Cole Harrison, Sarah Katherine Casey and Elizabeth Greer Casey. Holly earned an undergraduate degree from Northeast Louisiana State College in 1967, two masters degrees from Northeast Louisiana University in 1971 and 1990, and a doctorate in education from the University of Louisiana at Monroe in 2000. A lifetime educator, she taught many hundreds of students at Northeast Louisiana University, Neville High School and the University of Louisiana at Monroe before retiring in 2007. Holly always credited her students with making her a better teacher. In retirement, she was an active member of Northminster Church, the North Louisiana Quilters' Guild and the Monroe Symphony League, and was a volunteer with the Next Chapter Book Club of Families Helping Families of Northeast Louisiana and Friends of Black Bayou. Holly was a voracious reader, an accomplished seamstress and quilter, a certified master gardener and highly skilled with a computer. Her interests were numerous and her pursuit of knowledge of the varied wonders of this world was never ceasing. She freely and willingly shared her time, talents and experience to all. Holly will be remembered for her deep love for her children, grandchildren and friends and her wish to make the world a better place than she found it. In lieu of flowers, donations are requested in Holly's memory to the Friends of Bayou, Inc., the Southern Poverty Law Center in Montgomery, Alabama or Northminster Church.
