Frank Coens and Rev. Blaine O'Neill officiating, under the direction of Mulhearn Funeral Home, Sterlington Road, Monroe, Louisiana. James Cayer passed away peacefully on Sunday, February 8, 2015, at his residence. James was born on January 7, 1932, to parents, Jules and Henrietta Cayer. He joined the Air Force in 1950 and served in the Korean War. Upon leaving the service, he worked for Ford, Bacon and Davis until joining State Farm in 1969. He then had a 27 year career as a State Farm Agent in Monroe. James was active in numerous organizations such as some Catholic charities, Pregnancy Lifeline, Our Lady of Fatima Catholic Church, St. Frederick High School, the Optomist Club and the Lions Club. His hobbies included traveling in his motor home, and he attended many motor home rallies around the country. James was preceded in death by his first wife of over fifty years, Peggy Cayer; son, Jay Cayer; brother, Tony Cayer and sister, Myra Ann Juneau. Survivors include his wife, Mona Faye Cayer; sons, James W. Cayer, Jr. and wife Monica, of Wilmington, Delaware; and John Cayer, of St. Clair, Missouri; daughters, Paula Mabry, of Sarasota, Florida; Pamela Villagran and husband Ruben, of Ruston, Louisiana; Patricia Navarro and her husband Daniel, of Monroe, Louisiana; Penny Fedders and husband Greg, of Charlotte, North Carolina; Pepper McGough and husband William, of Tulsa, Oklahoma; sister, Jewel Armstrong, of Alexandria, Louisiana; sixteen grandchildren, 15 great grandchildren and numerous nieces, nephews and extended family. Pallbearers will be his grandsons GySgt. James Levi Coons, IV, Henry Ethan Mabry, TSgt. Eric Larn Mabry, SSG. Jason Michael Coons, Joshua Adam Coons, and Nathanial Paul Navarro. Visitation will be held Friday, February 13, 2015, from 5:00 PM until 7:00 PM, at Mulhearn Funeral Home, Sterlington Road, Monroe, Louisiana. Memorials may be made to Our Lady of Fatima School, Saint Frederick High School or St. Jude Hospital.
