CERDA Funeral services for Almeda E. Cerda, 94, of Monroe, LA, will be held at 2:00 PM Tuesday, December 23, 2014, in the Chapel at Mulhearn Funeral Home, Sterlington Road, Monroe, with Rev. Edmund Moore and Rev. David Richter officiating. Interment will follow at Mulhearn Memorial Park Mausoleum. Mrs. Cerda died Sunday, December 21, 2014, at Rosemont Assisted Living in West Monroe. She was a member of St. Matthew Catholic Church and Jesus the Good Shepherd Catholic Church. Mrs. Cerda was preceded in death by her husband, Louis D. Cerda; daughter, Patricia Ann Harper; son-in-law, H.L. "Bubba" Whitaker; brothers, William Don Funk, Charles Marvin Funk, and parents, William and Beauluh Dailey Funk. Survivors include her son, James Cerda, Sr. and wife Kathy of Monroe, LA; daughter, Gloria Cerda Whitaker of Benton, LA; grandson, James Cerda, Jr.; granddaughters, Melissa A. Capella, Angela Cerda Hamby, Tonya Grant Colvin; great-grandsons, Taylor Whitaker, Benjamin Louis Cerda, Tyler Hamby, Tate Daniel Hamby, Aiden C. Colvin, Banks McCurdy; and great-granddaughters, Isabelle Cerda, Ellen Beatrice Cerda, Carlee Hamby, Allie Rae Hamby, Abigail K. Colvin. Pallbearers will be Chuck Cook, Tyler Hamby, Van Ditta, Jayson Craft, Frank Shavers, and Renee' Canales. Honorary pallbearers will be William Cooper, Theodore F. Bryson, II, and Dr. Warren D. Long. Visitation will be from 12:00 PM Noon until service time Tuesday at the funeral home. The family wishes to extend their thanks to her caregivers Cathryn Coleman, Sonya Collins, Lisa Bradley, and Cassandra Coleman, as well as the West Monroe Fire Department.
