Mr. Chambers passed away Wednesday, June 12, 2013, at his residence after a lengthy illness. He retired from the U. S. Postal Service as postmaster of the Jena, LA Post Office. Mr. Chambers was a Catholic by faith, graduated from LSU with a Bachelor's Degree, where he was a member of the Delta Sigma Phi Fraternity. He was a veteran in the United States Navy. He loved the outdoors, being in his manicured garden, fishing with his family, a meticulous craftsman able to take care of any project, and was a perfectionist in his work and day to day activities. Mr. Chambers worked the newspaper crossword puzzles in pen every day. Mr. Chambers was preceded in death by his parents, Sanford and Rose Chambers; and brother, Robert Chambers. Survivors include his wife, Patricia Brown Chambers; daughters, April Chambers McGuffee and husband Slagle, and Leigh Ann Chambers Taylor and husband Daryl, all of Monroe; four granddaughters, Courtney McGuffee Cameron and husband Jonathan of Ft. Worth, TX, Lyndsey Taylor Humble of Monroe, Emily Taylor of Shreveport, and Maggie McGuffee of Monroe; great grandson, Brayden Humble; two sisters, Sallie Ann Miskell of Grenada Hills, CA, and Mary Lee Harper of Baton Rouge, LA; one niece, and five nephews. Honorary pallbearers will be Slagle McGuffee, Daryl Taylor, Charles Harper, Carl Harper, Mark Harper, Chris Miskell, and Bob Miskell. Visitation will be Saturday from 12:30 PM until service time at Mulhearn Funeral Home, Sterlington Road, Monroe. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the American Cancer Society.
