Dale Oden and Dr. Rick Byargeon officiating, Burial will follow at Pines Memorial Cemetery in Ruston under the direction of Kilpatrick Funeral Home in Ruston. Juanita was born January 8, 1927 in Ruston, LA and went home to be with the Lord on November 11, 2008. She was preceded in death by her husband of 53 years, William Preston Chandler. Juanita graduated from Chatham High School, Chatham, LA in 1944. She attended Louisiana Tech University and worked at the Minden Shell plant until the end of World War II. After the war until 1960 she worked at Cupps Drug's, now the Corner Drug Store. In 1960 she became one of the first women in Ruston to open her own business, "Chandler's Toys and Gifts" which became "Chandler's School Supplies" in the mid seventies. In the 80's she combined her business with her husband's Chandler's Furniture and worked together until 1995. As if two businesses weren't enough, her hobby of decorating cakes became another. She stayed busy baking birthday and wedding cakes, as well as catering weddings and banquets until she no longer could physically. She also was church hostess at Temple Baptist Church and First Baptist Church of Ruston. She was a life long member of Temple Baptist Church. She enjoyed traveling and was fortunate enough to travel most of the world becoming a collector of keepsakes from every country she visited. Her favorite keepsakes were china, crystal, dolls and angels. Another one of her passions was visiting and cooking for the elderly which always brought a smile to her face. She is loved and going to be missed not only by her family, but by many friends in the community. She is survived by two children: Billy C. Chandler and his wife Betty of Ruston, LA and Brenda Chandler Brister and her husband Mike of Ruston, LA. She is also survived by five grandchildren: Bobby Chandler, Leslie Brister, and Lane Brister, all of Ruston, LA, Jessica Love Howard and husband Chris of Flower Mound, TX, and Joshua Love of Spokane Washington; along with two brothers: A.W. "Bud" Shaw and wife Dale of Vernon, LA and A.C. "Sug" Shaw and wife Patsy of Ruston, LA; one sister: Ann Shaw Rhodes and husband Jay of Bossier City, LA; several nieces, nephews, and a host of close friends. Pallbearers will be Mabry Elliott, Rel Shaw, Edward "Shorty" Shaw, Billy Milton Shaw, Randy Funes, Kenny Brister, and Dr. Jack Cox. Honorary Pallbearers will be Aubrey Simmons and Kirk Reynolds.
