A graveside service will be held on Saturday, May 20 at 10:00am at the Belah Cemetery in Trout, LA with Rev. Dominick DiCarlo officiating. She is preceded in death by her husband, William Alexander Chapman, M.D.; infant daughter, Hannah Chapman; Howard Zachary; mother, Mildred Andrews and father, Claude Zachary. She is survived by her daughters, Lauchlan Nelson (John) of Hattiesburg, MS and Elise Chapman of Newellton, LA; son, William Alexander Chapman, Jr. of Monroe, LA; grandchildren, Mary Elise Nelson of Lafayette, LA and Warren Cutrer of Tylertown, MS; brothers, Jean Andrews of Trout, LA and Nimrod Andrews of Alexandria, LA along with numerous nieces and nephews. Mary Finley Zachary Chapman (Mary Finn) was born October 28, 1919 in Trout, LA. She lived in Trout until she moved to Monroe, LA to work and attend Northeast Center (ULM). It was there that she met her future husband William Alexander Chapman (Bro). Years later, after Bro had completed medical school and served his country during WWII, they made their home in Newellton, LA; where she lived for more than 70 years. Her early life was filled with many social activities. Mary Finn enjoyed gardening and flower arranging and was a past President of the Newellton Garden Club. She was a lover of nature and had a broad knowledge of plants and wild birds. She was a talented bridge player. Mary Finn was an accomplished artist. Her paintings grace the walls of family members and friends and some of her drawings can be found in the Newellton Garden Club Cookbook. She was a member of the Ladies Auxiliary. Mary Finn was a member of the Newellton Union Church and her faith in the Lord was ever present as she often expressed how much her prayers sustained her. Memorials may be made to the Newellton Union Church, the Belah Cemetery in Trout, LA or the charity of the donor's choice.
