Mr. Chatham served in the National Guard as well as the US Navy. He was a member of Chatham United Methodist Church, member of Sons of Confederate Veterans and he served in the Vietnam War while in the US Navy. Left to cherish his memory are his wife of 44 years Linda Moore Chatham; son, Jason Allen Chatham and wife Bobbi; grandsons, James Allen Chatham and Thomas Daniel Chatham all of Chatham, La; children of the heart, Nichole Lynn Tripp and her children, Ashlyn Tripp and Karson Tripp of Calhoun, La and Lin Anne Claborn of West Monroe, La; sisters, Susan Davis and husband Marvin of Chatham, La, Sharon Hubanks and husband Earl of Eros, La; sister-in-law, Brenda Chatham of Chatham, La; brother-in-law, Henri J. Roca, Jr of Destrehan, La. He is also survived by a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. Mr. Chatham was preceded in death by his parents, Leroy and Hazel Watson Chatham; daughter, Jessica Lyn Chatham; sister, Carolyn Roca; brother, Leroy Jackson Chatham, Jr. Mr. Chatham worked in the forestry industry for more than 50 years. He was proud to own his own company, Chatham Timber, LLC, with his son, Jason Allen Chatham. Mr. Chatham loved being outside camping, riding 4 wheelers and traveling to the mountains. Mr. Chatham loved his family and the history of where he came from. Being an avid genealogist, he traced the Chatham/Cheatham line back to England. Mr. Chatham was beloved by many people. He was known as husband, father, grandfather, brother, uncle and friend. He will be missed beyond words. Friends may visit with the family on Friday, May 2, 2014 from 5:00PM until 7:00PM at the Chatham United Methodist Church. Funeral services will be held Saturday, May 3, 2014 at 4:00PM at the Chatham United Methodist Church with Layla Cooper officiating under the direction of Southern Funeral Home in Jonesboro. Interment will be in Chatham Cemetery.
