Monday, July 28, 2014 at the First Baptist Church Monroe, LA with Rev. Terry Slawson officiating. Interment will follow in the Riverview Cemetery under the direction of Mulhearn Funeral Home West Monroe, LA. Dr. Chatham, a retired CPA, passed away on Saturday, July 26, 2014 following a lengthy illness. He was a graduate of Neville High School, LSU and attained his doctorate at LA Tech University. He served in the National Guard and was a longtime beloved professor of Accounting at ULM, as well as a private CPA. A lifelong resident of Monroe, except for a brief residence in Baton Rouge, LA, he served on the Monroe City Planning Commission for many years, as well as in the Lion's Club. One of his great joys was serving on the Seeker Springs Board, an organization very dear to his heart. A devoted husband, father and longtime deacon and Sunday School Teacher at First Baptist Church of Monroe, LA, Dr. Chatham was dearly loved by many for his gentle, patient spirit combined with his smirky grin! Dr. Chatham is preceded in death by his wife of 47 years, Evelyn Duke Chatham and their infant son, as well as his mother and father, Zola and H.M. Chatham. Survivors include his daughter, Dr. Shelly Chatham McCormick and her husband, David of West Monroe, LA and brother, Charles Chatham and his wife, Carol of Royal, AR. Pallbearers will be Chris Allums, Mike Swinney, Mark Saterfield, Troy McCullen, Robert Garner, and Mike Joyner. Honorary Pallbearers will be the deacons of First Baptist Church Monroe, LA, along with David Rice and Charlie Flynn. Visitation will be held from 1:00 P.M. until Service Time Monday at First Baptist Church Monroe, LA. Memorials may be made to the First Baptist Church Monroe or to Seeker Springs Encampment. The family wishes to extend a special thanks to his beloved nurse, Theresa Hammett and his sitter, Maxine Crowell, as well as the staff at Stoneybrook Memory Care Center and LA Palliative Care.
