HOLLIE M. CHILDRESS Kilpatrick Funeral Home West Monroe, LA A memorial service for Hollie M. Childress will be held at Kilpatrick Funeral Home in West Monroe on Thursday, April 30th, 2009, at 10:00AM with Rev. Jon Tellifero and Rev. Marla Munn officiating. Private interment will be at Liberty Hill Taylor Cemetery near Farmerville, LA, under the direction of the Kilpatrick Funeral Home of West Monroe. Mr. Childress was born February 19th, 1929, in Haslam, TX, to James and Elizabeth Childress. He grew up in Mansfield, LA and earned a degree in Chemical Engineering at Louisana Tech. He served in the US Army. During his lengthy career with Exxon Pipeline in Houston, he was involved in the design of the Alaskan Pipeline and several other major construction projects While living in Houston, he was an active and supportive member of the Westbury United Methodist Church. Upon retirement, he moved to West Monroe and served as an usher at the First United Methodist Church of West Monroe and a part-time teacher in the Stinson Sunday School Class. He also worked for several years with the AARP Income Tax Program. Mr. Childress died on April 27th, 2009, in Frisco, TX. He was preceded in death by his wife, Florrinell. He is survived by his daughter, Sharon, and son-in-law, Richard Van Tyne, Jr., of Pilot Point, TX; grandson, Eric; sister, Barbara Westbrook and husband, Van of West Monroe, LA; sister Sara Vercher of Centerville, LA; brother, James Childress and wife, Joan of Wyomissing, PA; and brother, Perry Childress of Pineville, LA.
