Interment will be at Mer Rouge Cemetery. Beth passed away on Friday afternoon, May 8, 2009, after 99 years of a giving, loving, and creative life. A fifth generation of two pioneer families of East Texas, she was born on April 11, 1910 of Walter Carroll Holloway and Sarah Elizabeth Power Holloway. In 1875 her great grandfather, the Rev. James P. Holloway founded the First Christian Church in Longview, TX. Beth was a gardener and loved flowers and flower arranging. She was very active in garden club work and was a former accredited flower show judge. Beth wore many hats during her long and productive life. Once a Red Cross Gray Lady, she was a loving and compassionate home nurse until the age of 87. A member at one time of the State Poetry Society, Beth had several poems published and her later years were filled with many creative hobbies. In her early 90's she began to paint with her daughter, and many friends and family were given beautiful watercolors of flowers and landscapes as treasured gifts. Beth's careful attention to detail and her wish to "make it easy" on her family did exactly that. Her last note to family was: "Don't grieve for me. Death is not an end but a beginning. I love you. -Mother" Beth was preceded in death by her parents, four sisters, a brother, husband, Leslie Hugh Clark; son, Leslie Carroll Clark; and grandson, Samuel Clark Ingram. Survivors include her son, Hugh Holloway Clark and wife Minta of Devers, TX; daughter, Brenda Clark Ingram McDaniel and husband Jim of Monroe, LA; grandsons, Leslie B. Ingram and wife Sarah of Methwold, England, Hugh H. Clark, Jr. and wife Mihyo of Alaska, Christopher L. Clark of Dayton, TX, Patrick C. Clark of Georgia, and Sean Michael Clark of Farmerville, LA; granddaughter, Donna I. Howie and husband Steve of Lexington, SC; and many great grandsons, great granddaughters, nieces and nephews. Visitation will be Monday from 4:00 PM until 6:00 PM at Mulhearn Funeral Home, Sterlington Road, Monroe.
