ROLAND JR. COATES


Funeral services for Roland Coates, Jr. will be held at 2:00 PM, Saturday,
September 9, 2017 in the chapel of Kilpatrick Funeral Home West Monroe. Rev.
George Worsham will officiate. Interment will follow at Hasley Cemetery under
the direction of Kilpatrick Funeral Home West Monroe.

Roland was preceded in death by his son, Roland Coates, III; parents, Roland Sr.
and Hettie Coates; sister, Anna Joyce Nevils. He was born October 13, 1936 in
Ouachita Parish, LA and passed away September 6, 2017. Roland was employed at
Hanelines Men's Wear for 30+ years. Before his health started to fail, he loved
spending time at his camp on D'arbonne fishing, hunting and watching the sun
rise from his dock. Those were some of his best days. Roland loved taking care
of his yard and loved his little red riding mower which he said he loved more
than his car.

Roland is survived by his wife; Judith P. Coates; children; Greg Coates and wife
Heidi, Steve Coates and wife Dayna, Lori S. Coronado and husband Danny and Chuck
Smart and wife Lori; grandchildren, Daniel, Lane, Gavin, Colin, Colton Coates,
Evan Smart , Mollie Peters, Rebecca and Haley Rainwater, Camryn Coates, and Emma
Smart; sister-in-law, Charlotte Belveal.

Thank you dear friends for all your prayers, cards, calls and for being there
for us. We cherish your friendship and old friends are the dearest. Our most
grateful thank you's are to Dr. El Malah, Dr Shafiei, Dr. Mousa, Livia and all
the staff at Internal Medicine of the Twin Cities for your love and care over
the years. A special thank you to LA Hospice and Palliative Care.

Grandsons will serve as pallbearers.

Honorary pallbearers will be Faye P. Farmer, Bobby Lemoine, Johnnie Kelly,
Randolph Cage, Tom Sanders, Donald Black and Bob Kennedy.

Visitation will be held Saturday, September 9, 2017 from 12:00 PM until 2:00 PM
at Kilpatrick Funeral Home West Monroe.

Memorials in Roland's memory may be made to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital.
