JEWELL ALMA (CARTER) COATES 

Riser Funeral Home Columbia,LA 

Funeral services for Mrs. Jewell Alma (Carter) Coates age 86 of Bossier City 
and formerly of Olla will be held at 10:00 AM Tuesday December 12, 2010 from 
the Columbia Chapel of Riser Funeral Home with Rev. Larry Adkins officiating. 
Interment will follow in the Old Union Cemetery at Grayson. The Coates Family 
will have visitation on Monday evening from 4:00 PM until 9:00 PM at the 
funeral home in Columbia. Jewell Alma (Carter) Coates was born on December 5, 
1923 at Urania, LA to the union of her parents, the late Troy Purvis Carter 
and Mary Alice McKaskel Carter. She passed from this life on Saturday January 
9, 2010 at her residence in Bossier City following an extended illness. She 
was also preceded in death by her husband Jack Coates; two sons, Jackie Ray 
Coates and Purvis Joe Coates; and a daughter, Bonnie Braddock. Survivors 
include, four daughters, Emma Halliburton and husband, Wes of Olla, Bobbie 
Roberts and husband, Sonny of Clarks, Faye Simons and husband, Roger of Olla, 
and Sybil King and husband, Carl of Bossier City, LA; son, Calvin Coates and 
wife, Darlene of Lafayette, AL; seventeen grandchildren; twenty-seven great-
grandchildren; and three great-great grandchildren. Serving as pallbearers 
will be Clint Coates, Stacey Coates, Dustin Lassiter, Joe Temple, Hardy 
Roberts, Eric Dulaney, Brandon Coates, Steven Coates, and Steven Dulaney.
