Born on April 17, 1964 in Ruston, La., he has lived most of his life in Ruston but also lived briefly in Monroe, Houston, Metairie, La. and Little Rock, Ark. before always returning to his beloved Ruston. He graduated from Ruston High School in 1982 where he played center for the Bearcat football team and was winner of the Hoss Garrett Award. He was a graduate of Louisiana Tech University in 1988 with a B.A. degree. Jerry held several jobs over the years, but most recently he worked with special needs and at risk children in Livingston, Union, and Lincoln Parishes. His most recent job was with the District Attorney's office in its Lincoln/Union Truancy Assessment Service Center. Jerry will be remembered as an avid outdoorsman, outstanding athlete, dog lover, grill master and devoted fan of the Louisiana Tech Bulldogs. We will miss his sharp sense of humor, his optimism, his kindness and sincere interest and love for his family and his many friends. Jerry's family extends their gratitude to the doctors and staff of the Frontier Cancer Center and Blood Institute of Billings, Montana, the LSU Health Sciences Center Shreveport, and Professional Hospice Care of Ruston for their excellent treatment and care of Jerry. He is survived by his parents, Gerald and Shirley Cobb of Ruston, his brothers Dr. Patrick Cobb and wife Carla, of Billings, Montana, Kenneth Cobb and wife Cindy of Austin, Texas, David Cobb and wife Donna of Silver Spring, Maryland, and special friend Tanya McGowan of Ruston. Jerry also leaves behind his nieces and nephews: Joel Cobb, Lauren Cobb Snelling, Alex Cobb, Garrett Cobb, Graham Cobb, and Eileen Cobb. Pallbearers will be Jay Brooks, Barry Canterbury, Jimmy "Chick" Childress, Shannon Frazier, Bob Garrett and Bob Swan. Visitation will be held at Temple Baptist Church from 5 PM to 7 PM on Thursday, October 11, 2012. Services will be held at Temple Baptist Church on Friday, October 12, 2012 at 10:00 A.M. Burial services will follow at Forest Lawn Memorial Park under the direction of Kilpatrick Funeral Home. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Louisiana Tech Athletic Club, P.O. Box 1190, Ruston, LA 71273, Melanoma Research Foundation (MRF), P.O.
