COBURN Services celebrating the life of Mrs. Dorothy J. Coburn, 77, of West Monroe, LA will be held at 2:00 P.M. Thursday, January 15, 2015 in the chapel of Mulhearn Funeral Home, West Monroe with Dr. Mark Fenn officiating. Interment will follow in Kilpatrick Serenity Gardens Cemetery in West Monroe. Mrs. Coburn was born July 3, 1937 in West Monroe, LA and went to be with the Lord on January 12, 2015. Mrs. Coburn was a merchandising assistant for JC Penney's for 25 years before retiring to become a full-time grandmother. She enjoyed traveling with family, working crossword puzzles and telling everyone not to worry as she worried about everything. Preceding her in death were her parents, Joe and Exxa Mae Newman; sister, Francis Roberts of Farmerville, LA; husband, Paul B. Coburn, Sr.; and her cherished daughter, Debbie Coburn Bice. Left to cherish her memory is her son, Paul Coburn, Jr. and wife, Kelly; two grandchildren, Amanda Marie Coburn and Kyle Coburn; special nephews, Jimmy and wife, Brenda Butler, and Earl and wife, Jackie Roberts; son-in-law, Doug Bice; longtime dear friend, Martha Frame; and numerous other relatives and friends. Pallbearers will be Kyle Coburn, Jimmy Butler, Doug Bice, Danny Fincher, Earl Roberts, Jr. and Bill Norris, Jr. Visitation will be held from 12:30 P.M. until service time on Thursday. In lieu of flowers, the family request memorials are made to the Lupus Foundation of America. The family wishes to thank the staff of Glenwood Hospital 3rd floor north for the compassion and care for Nanny during her last difficult days, especially Morgan Lewis, RN, for her above and beyond care.
