Officiating the service will be Rev. Barry Joyner. Interment will follow at Unionville Cemetery under the direction of Kilpatrick Funeral Home in Ruston. Mr. Colvin was born January 18, 1924 and passed away at his home December 28, 2012 following a lengthy illness. Mr. Colvin was a member of the First Baptist Church in Dubach. He served in the United States Air Force and was a Veteran of WWII where he served as a Staff Sergeant and flight engineer in the 8th Air Force. He is survived by; wife: Lanene Smith Colvin of Unionvlle; son: Luther Gerald (Pete) Colvin and wife Evelyn of Minden; daughter: Patti Colvin Newsom and husband Mike of Monroe; and brother: Douglas Colvin of Ruston; grandchildren: Stacey Ann Colvin, Brandy Lane Colvin, Jennifer Newsom Green, and Amanda Colvin Spencer; 9 great grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. In lieu of flowers memorials may be sent to the First Baptist Church in Dubach, LA Baptist Children's Home in Monroe and N.E. LA War Veterans Home also in Monroe, LA. Pallbearer will be Travis Gray, Jimmy Green, Billy Henderson, Ruel Gene Roberson, Mike Brown, Don Robbins, Charles Fuller and Don Jacks. Honorary Pallbearers will be Don Carlson and Dale Casbier. The family would like to thank Mr. Colvin's caregivers; Ruby Gray, Kim Graham, Tara Douglas, Shirley Simonton, Ida Mangham, Natasha Ellis, Autrey Powell and the Hospice of Caring Hearts , Todd Craighead and Connie Kennedy; and Dr. Thomas Morris. Visitation will be held from 5:00 to 7:00 PM Sunday, December 30, 2012 at Kilpatrick Funeral Home in Ruston.
