Burial will be at Mulhearn Memorial Park Cemetery under the direction of Mulhearn Funeral Home, Sterlington Road, Monroe. Mr. Conti passed away on Sunday, April 29, 2012, at home after a long battle against cancer. Mr. Conti was born in Amite, LA on December 17, 1921 the tenth of thirteen born to Nicholas and Sara Conti. Mr. Conti was a veteran of World War II serving in the United States Army. He received three Bronze Stars. Mr. Conti retired from Selic Furniture Company. He was a Charter Member of both St. Joseph Catholic Church and St. Lawrence Catholic Church. He was most proud of his Grandchildren and Great-Granddaughter. He loved being outdoors and grew a bountiful vegetable garden every year. Mr. Conti was preceded in death by his parents, four sisters and seven brothers. Mr. Conti is survived by his wife of 65 years, Frances Cicero Conti; his children, Joseph Conti, Jr. of Denham Springs, LA, Gerald S. Conti and wife Michelle, and Cathy Pohl and husband Ronnie, all of Monroe; grandchildren, Robert Pohl, Derick Pohl and wife Misty, and Samuel Conti, all of Monroe, Christi Holloway and husband Brent of Gainsville, GA, Melissa Conti of Baton Rouge, and their mother, Tywana Conti of Deville, LA; and great-granddaughter, Grace Pohl of Monroe. He is also survived by his sister, Mrs. Anne Cazaubon of New Orleans, LA. Pallbearers will be Joseph Conti, Jr., Gerald Conti, Robert Pohl, Derick Pohl, Jim Greenlee, and Jimmy Dickerson. Visitation will be Tuesday from 10:00 AM until 12:00 PM at Mulhearn Funeral Home, Sterlington Road, Monroe. The family wishes to sincerely thank the nurses and staff at Doctors Hospice and Dr. Thomas Williams for the loving care they provided to Mr. Conti and his family. Memorials may be made to the building fund at St. Lawrence Catholic Church in Monroe.
