VERMA "NANNY" AVERITTE GRAHAM CONTI

Mulhearn Funeral Home Sterlington Road, Monroe, LA 

Funeral services for Mrs. Verma "Nanny" Averitte Graham Conti, 93, of Monroe, 
will be held at 10:00 AM Tuesday, December 11, 2007, at First Baptist Church 
in Monroe, with Dr. Alan Miller officiating. Interment will follow in Mulhearn 
Memorial Park Cemetery under the direction of Mulhearn Funeral Home, 
Sterlington Road, Monroe. Mrs. Conti was born May 7, 1914, in Downsville, LA 
and passed away Saturday, December 08, 2007 at St. Francis Medical Center in 
Monroe. She was preceded in death by her first husband, Travis Laverne Graham; 
her second husband, Nicholas Conti, Jr.; a son, Nicholas Conti, III of Monroe; 
her parents, Vester and Velma Averitte of Downsville; one sister, Lillian 
Averitte Taylor of Point, LA; and one brother, Herman Averitte of West Monroe. 
Survivors include three daughters, Carolyn Graham Whitfield of Monroe, LA, 
Sara Conti Ouillette of Pensacola, FL, and Virginia Conti of Denham Springs, 
LA; and one brother, Victor Averitte of Downsville, LA. She is also survived 
by grandchildren, Lisa Whitfield Herlevic of Monroe, LA, Steve Ashcraft of 
Steubenville, OH, Lou Ashcraft and Warren Ashcraft, both of Roswell, GA, Eve 
Ashcraft Dove of Destin, FL, Ann Ashcraft Dunn of Lake Charles, LA, Lora 
Garcia of Denham Springs, LA, Lucy Stabler of Baton Rouge, LA, Danny Wiggins 
of Baytown, TX, Chris Conti of West Monroe, LA, Todd Conti of Baton Rouge, LA, 
and Julie Conti Digiovanni of Monroe, LA; great-grandchildren, Amy Elizabeth 
Herlevic of Sandy Springs, GA, Adam, Alex, and Austin Ashcraft of 
Steubenville, OH, Michelle Ashcraft of Roswell, GA, Lennon and Sophie Dove of 
Destin, FL, Kaitlyn and Grant Dunn of Lake Charles, LA, Megan, Candace, and 
Wayne Stabler, Jr. of Baton Rouge, LA, Nicholas and Avery Wiggins of Baytown, 
TX, Stephanie Digiovanni of Monroe, LA, Christy Conti of West Monroe, LA, and 
Nicholas Conti, II of Baton Rouge, LA; many nieces and nephews, and her very 
special friend, Jewel Wright. In her early working years, she and her first 
husband were involved in the dry cleaning business for many years and later 
she was employed by The Monroe New Star as a proof reader for twenty-two 
years, retiring in 1979. She was an active member of First Baptist Church of 
Monroe for many years where she served on many committees and as secretary of 
the Vota Vita Sunday School Class. She also sang with the Singing Sam's Senior 
Choir. She and her second husband enjoyed growing and showing roses and were 
member of the Rose Society. Pallbearers will be grandsons, Lou Ashcraft, 
Warren Ashcraft, Danny Wiggins, Chris Conti, Todd Conti, and Rick Herlevic, 
grandson-in-law. Honorary pallbearers will be Marty Herlevic, and Tommy 
Scurria. Visitation will be Monday from 5:00 PM until 7:30 PM at Mulhearn 
Funeral Home, Sterlington Road, Monroe. Memorials may be made to The Louisiana 
Baptist Children's Home, 7200 Desiard St., Monroe, LA 71203 or to the charity 
of your choice.
