Gary Canterberry officiating. Mr. Cooper was born April 11, 1938 in Rayville, LA and passed away on October 15, 2015 after a brief illness. He joined the Air Force in 1956. His time in the service included two tours in Thailand. He retired after 20 years of service at Griffiss AFB, Rome, NY in 1976. He then went to work for Fleeman Aviation in Monroe, LA. Later he worked for Federal Express in Monroe, LA and El Dorado, AR. He made many friends through his work and kept in contact with them regularly. After retiring from Fed Ex, he lived on Lake D'Arbonne and spent his time taking care of his family. Mr. Cooper was a member of Haughton Masonic Lodge. Survivors include his wife, Shirley Young Cooper; 1 daughter, Vicky Lynn Cooper; 1 grandson, Trey White; 2 great grandsons, Brennan and Hayden White; a longtime friend, Marcia Coker; and his "special girl", Julie and her husband Stoney Goodman; siblings, Virginia Banks (Ernie), Elizabeth Cooper, Marvin (Georgia); niece, Sharon Bryce (Kary, Nataly, Jared, Kara); nephew, Stephen Banks (Torie, Rhodes, Cooper). He is also survived by very dear and special friend, Tracy Summerville, and many more friends. He was preceded in death by his parents, Fred and Dorris Cooper; second parents, Harry and Elizabeth Statham, who he helped take care of for the past seven years; and his grandmother, Emma Cumpton.
