COOPER Funeral services for William "Bill" Alfred Cooper, Jr., 70, of Monroe, LA, will be held at 10:00 a.m., Monday, June 27, 2016, at Jesus the Good Shepherd Catholic Church, Monroe, LA, with Rev. Matthew Long officiating. Interment will follow at Douciere Cemetery, in Richland Parish. Mr. Cooper passed Friday, June 24, 2016, at St. Francis Hospital Downtown, Monroe, LA. He was the oldest of three, born in Monroe, LA in 1945. He was a graduate of Rayville High School and Northeast Louisiana State College (now ULM) in 1969. At the age of 17 he began working at Spats Drugs for his uncle, Gene Spatafora. Years later, he purchased Spats and was the owner/operator until his passing. He was known for his dedication and compassion to each of his customers, and was a mentor to countless pharmacy students over his career. He was a loving husband, a hero to his 4 children and a caring role model to his 5 grandchildren. He was a faithful member of Jesus the Good Shepard Catholic Church for over 42 years, a member of the ACTS community, heavily involved with the Teams of Our Lady and a member of Knights of Columbus. Memorials should be made to Jesus the Good Shepard Catholic Church in Monroe LA. Mr. Cooper was preceded in death by his parents William Alfred Cooper, Sr and Matilda "Tillie" Aucoin Cooper. Survivors include his wife of 42 years, Laura Belle Cooper; children, Dub Cooper, and wife Amy, Christy Bolton, and husband Bruce, David Cooper, and Kevin Cooper; grandchildren, Tye Shelton, Reese Cooper, Davis Cooper, Anna Belle Bolton, and Jack Bolton; brother, Mike Cooper, and wife Ruthie; sister, Letty O'Neal, and husband Hodge; and numerous nieces and nephews. Pallbearers will be Bob Spatafora, Chris Cooper, Bruce Bolton, Tommy Milam, Jim Cuthbert, and Henry Dannehl. Honorary pallbearers are Chris Domingue, Al Loomis, Mark Nix, Jeff Elkins, Ken Vincent, Bob Moreau, Andy Stump, Carl Aaron, and Robert Biggers. Visitation will be 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m., Rosary at 6:00 p.m., Sunday, June 26, 2016, at Mulhearn Funeral Home, Monroe, LA.
