VERDA MAE "MAE-MAE" COPES

Bay Minette, AL

Mrs. Verda Copes, age 92, a native of Pioneer, Louisiana and a resident of Bay 
Minette, Alabama, died Friday, February 20,2009 at a nursing home in Bay 
Minette, AL. Mrs. Copes was a former Senior Olympian and was elected to the 
Louisiana Senior Olympic Hall of Fame. Mrs. Copes previously resided in 
Tallulah and Denham Springs, LA.

She is survived by her two sons Frederick Duane Copes (Jeanette) of West 
Point, MS, and Jerry Walter Copes, of Davis Island, LA; her daughter Laura C. 
Pitre, (Richard) Bay Minette, AL; her sister, Inez Gawthorp of Cody, WY; six 
grandchildren and nine great grand children.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Charles and Laura Inez Prestridge; 
her husband Walter Fredrick Copes, a granddaughter Charlam Renee Hopper and 
four brothers and four sisters.

A memorial service will be held at New Hope Church of God on Hwy 577 west of 
Darnell, LA at 2:00 PM on Saturday, March 7, 2009.
