He was born to Henry and Lydia Copes on March 31, 1944 in Pioneer, LA. He graduated in 1962 from Pioneer High School and joined the USAF. He retired from the USAF as a Senior Master Sargent in air traffic control. After retiring he worked for TSTI for 11 years in Waco, and then 5 years at the National Weather Station in Victoria where he made home. Dale is survived by his wife, Maricela of Victoria; daughters, Pam Copes of Louisiana and Leola Breen of Waco; his son, Charles P. Copes of Yorktown; 9 grandchildren, 2 great-grandchildren, several step-children and step- grandchildren. He is preceded in death by his wives, Maryanne and Gloria; sons, Michel and Stephen Copes; parents, and 8 siblings. On behalf of "Mack", the family would like to send a special thanks to Hospice of South Texas and to all the doctors, nurses, and caregivers that have helped through his battle with cancer. A memorial service in his honor will be 1:00 pm Sunday July 31, 2016 at Massey Funeral Home 779 N.
