Interment will follow in the Salem Cemetery under the direction of Mulhearn Funeral Home, Monroe, LA. Mrs. Cottingham was born on November 24, 1923, to Leamon M. and Mae Bunn, and passed away on Friday, May 29, 2015, in Monroe, LA. She attended grammar school in the Eros School System and graduated from Eros High School. Mrs. Cottingham excelled in her studies, won the State Spelling Bee, and Dictionary Proficiency contests every year during her education. She earned her certificate as a Certified Nursing Assistant. She and Dewey R. Cottingham were married December 18, 1943. They were married 68 years. Mrs. Cottingham was a lifetime homemaker, taking care of husband and children. She enjoyed cooking and sewing as her hobbies. Their family enjoyed many memorable trips with their children and grandchildren. She was a member of the VFW Lodge 1809 Women's Auxillary and also a member of the North Monroe Baptist Church. Survivors include her daughter, Linda Cottingham Lowentritt and husband Phil; and son, Dewey Wayne Cottingham and wife Audrey, of Russellville, AR. They had four grandchildren, Daren Cottingham Bourgeois, Seth W. Cottingham, Afton Cottingham Elliott and Olivia Cottingham Tserotas; along with a host of great grandchildren. Pallbearers will be family members. Mrs. Cottingham's grandchildren and great grandchildren will serve as honorary pallbearers. Visitation will be held from 5:00 PM until 7:00 PM Tuesday, June 2, 2015, at Mulhearn Funeral Home, Sterlington Road, Monroe, LA. Memorials may be made to the Alzheimer's Association , P. O.
