Dr. Mark Fenn will officiate. Visitation will be Monday, October 27, 2014 from 10:00 A.M. until 11:00 A.M. at Kilpatrick Funeral Home, West Monroe. Mrs. Cox was born October 24, 1924 in Wilson, OK and passed away on her 90th birthday, October 24, 2014 in West Monroe, LA. Mrs. Cox was a member of First Baptist Church of West Monroe and retired from Delta Vocational School. She proudly served her country in the U.S. Army/ Women's Army Corp, stationed at the Pentagon with the Military Intelligence Service during WWII, separating as a Sergeant at the end of the war. She was a volunteer at Glenwood Hospital for 20 years and enjoyed knitting and crocheting at the West Ouachita Senior Citizen Center. She was preceded in death by her husband of 60 years, L.C. Cox, Jr.; her parents, Robert E. and Mildred Baxter; her son, Michael Cox; her brothers, Paskel Henson, George M. Baxter, William P. Baxter, Vaughan Riley Baxter and her sister Mary Nell Converse. Mrs. Cox was survived by her daughters, Mildred Cox of Dallas, TX, Martha Cox Elzen of Nashville, TN, and Marilyn Jones and husband Ronnie of Vicksburg, MS; son, Murray Cox and wife, Sylvia of Shalimar, FL; grandchildren, Brian Jones and wife, Tara of Baton Rouge, LA, Amie Jones Burroughs and husband, Wes of Vicksburg, MS, Elisa Mills and husband, Wesley of Vero Beach, Fl, Tina Knips and husband, Michael of Barrington, RI, Sonia Cox of New York City, Ethan Cox Elzen and wife Jenny of San Francisco, CA; great grandchildren, Palmer Elzen, Emerson Elzen, William Elzen, Caroline Mills, Keelyn Knips, Delaney Knips, Corbin Burroughs, Davis Burroughs, and Declan Jones. She is also survived by her niece Kathryn Phillips of Nederland, TX and sister-in-law, Jackie Baxter of Danville, CA. Memorials may be made to the Louisiana Baptist Children's home, 7200 Desaird Street, Monroe, LA 71203.
