John Albright and Jamie Albritton officiating. Interment will follow in the Lone Cherry Cemetery, Mangham, LA under the direction of Brown-Holley Funeral Home, Rayville. Mr. Virgil was born to Walter Clifton and Ida Joyner Crawford on December 10, 1918 in Mangham, LA and passed away Monday, January 4, 2016 in Monroe, LA. Mr. Virgil was a member of the International House of Prayer in Monroe, LA as well as attending the Presbyterian Church of Rayville, LA. He is preceded in death by his wife, Grace Mae Hale Crawford; daughters, Linda Dianne Crawford, Jane Gayle Crawford Rice; parents, Walter Clifton and Ida Joyner Crawford; brothers, Aubrey Crawford, Wilton Crawford; sister, Virginia Watson. Survivors include his sister, Ethelle Fountain of West Hampton Beach, NY; sister-in-law, Thelma Moon of Farmerville, LA; and numerous nieces and nephews. Pallbearers will be nephews and nephew-in-law. Virgil Crawford enjoyed a long career in the banking industry. After serving in the Pacific during World War II, he began his banking journey as a runner for Central Bank on Desiard Street in Monroe. Promotion after promotion led him to become President of Ouachita Federal Savings and Loan in West Monroe, LA where he actively promoted the campaign for growth and expansion of West Monroe, LA. After retiring from Ouachita Federal Savings and Loan he served as president of Citizens Federal Savings and Loan in Rayville, LA. Never one to be idle he and his wife owned and operated the Sear's Catalog store in Rayville, LA. Virgil Crawford grew up in a large family on a working farm in Richland Parish. Although he had a successful career in banking his love for building, constructing, and working with his hands brought him great pleasure throughout his entire life.
