James was born in Monroe, LA on January 13, 1943 and lived there most of his life. He spent the majority of his free time escaping to the woods and waters with his sons and grandsons. James was very active growing up. A star athlete in college as a Shortstop and Quarterback, he also graduated from Northeast Louisiana University with a BS degree in Business. The day after graduating, he married the love of his life, Dianne Cromwell. He was also a member of the National Guard and Army Reserve. James managed Howard Griffin Retail Stores until 1971, when he started Glamour Pools, which he operated for 44 years. Family was always first, with his kids and grandkids being his favorite topic of discussion. James is preceded in death by his parents, Ray and Ruby Cromwell; and his brother, Edward Cromwell. Survivors include his wife of 52 years, Dianne; his son, Kevin Cromwell and wife, Panzi; his daughter, Amanda Vicknair and husband, Ken; grandsons, Colby and fiancé, Abigail Bryan, Cayden, Austin, and Reed; brother, Kenneth Cromwell; sister, Peggy Burgess; along with many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. We would like to give a special thanks to North Monroe Baptist Church for their hard work, love and support; the first responders for their quick response and stellar efforts; Dr. Charles Morgan and his staff for their excellent care throughout the years. Melanie Massey and her team (especially Tom and Beverly) for their constant encouragement and all the others who had such an impact on his life. James was a loving father, husband, grandfather and friend to all he met. He was a wonderful example of a Godly man and lived his life in a way that all could see Jesus through him. He truly had a heart of gold and an extremely kind spirit. He was loved by all who knew him and will be missed beyond measure. Until we see our Honey, Daddy, and PawPaw again- we love you!
