J. Roddy Taylor officiating. Mrs. Cummings was born on January 19, 1939 in Winnsboro, Louisiana to Edward Arnold Lord and Ruby Mock Lord who preceded her death along with her husband of 44 years, Lester Mike Cummings, two brothers, Claude Levy Lord, and Edward Lord. A native of Baskin, Linda played basketball on the record holding team, Baskin High Lady Rams, coached by Ms. Tiny Tarbutton. After high school, Linda attended Northeast Louisiana State College until her marriage to Lester Mike Cummings on June 5, 1959. She worked for the Texas State Agriculture Department in College Station, Texas, while Mike finished his degree from Texas A & M in 1963. They then moved to Fort Benning, Georgia, as Mike completed his service in the United States Army until 1965. Linda and Mike lived in Baton Rouge until 1970. Moving to Monroe, Mike opened his own veterinary practice, where Linda was an integral part, serving as office manager until their retirement. She is survived by one son, Michael Cummings, and one daughter, Michelle Cummings Bryan and husband Andy, grandchildren, Kaitlyn Bryan Rockett and husband James, Kara Bryan, and Payne Cummings, one sister in law Ercil Spivey Lord, and her beloved nieces and nephews, Cyndy Lord Robertson and husband David, Eddie Lord and wife Anna, Tommy Lord, Levy Lord and wife Bobbie, great nieces and nephews, and a host of close friends. Visitation will be held from 1:00 PM to 2:00 PM, Sunday, September 18, 2016, at Mulhearn Funeral Home, Monroe, LA. In lieu of flowers memorials can be made to Friendship Baptist Church, 4820 Highway 132, Baskin, LA, St. Jude Children's Research Hospital , a charity of your choice , or play a slot machine in her memory.
