ROY ACUFF CUMPTON

Funeral services for Rev. Roy Acuff Cumpton, 69, of Monroe, LA will be held 
at 1:00 PM, Saturday, October 1, 2016 at Evangel Temple, Monroe, LA with 
Rev. Mikey Cheshier officiating. Interment will follow in the Mulhearn 
Memorial Park Cemetery, Monroe, LA under the direction of Brown-Holley 
Funeral Home, Rayville.

Rev. Roy was born December 12, 1946 in Rayville, LA and passed away Monday, 
September 26, 2016 in Monroe, LA.

Rev. Roy was an ordained minister, worked in Quality Control for 30 years, 
and was a member of the Gospel Sounds Quartet for 50 years. Rev. Roy is 
preceded in death by his parents, Tom and Ila Cumpton; sister, Hazel Miller; 
brothers, Jesse Cumpton and Lester Cumpton; son-in-law, Michael Charles 
Shows; grandson, Austin Michael Shows; sister-in-law, Mary Grace Cumpton; 
and brother-in-law, Preston Miller.

Survivors include his wife of 45 years, Kathryn Jones Cumpton of Monroe; 
children, Michelle Cumpton Johnson of West Monroe and Rhonda Cumpton Shows 
of Monroe; granddaughter, Alexis Shows of Monroe; sister, Irma Cumpton 
Borden and husband, Lavelle; brothers, William T. Cumpton and wife, Karen, 
Gene W. Cumpton and wife, Melba, and Freddie L. Cumpton and wife, Beth; 
sister-in-law, Ruth Cumpton; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Pallbearers are Russell Bonnette, Joseph Hooter, R.J. Lux, Karl Benefield, 
Scott Smith, and Michael Bickford. Honorary pallbearers will be The Gospel 
Sounds Quartet.

Visitation is 5:00 PM - 8:00 PM, Friday at the Evangel Temple, Monroe, LA
