GLORIA WOLLERSON DAVIS

Funeral services for Mrs. Gloria Wollerson Davis, 87, of Winnsboro, will be 
held 10 am Monday , July 11, 2016 in the chapel of Gill First National Funeral 
Home, with Rev. Keith Smith and Rev. T. W. Perkins officiating. Interment will 
follow in Coax Cemetery. Visitation will be 4 - 7 pm Sunday, July 10, 2016, at 
the funeral home.

Mrs. Gloria was born September 12, 1928, in Winnsboro to the union of Peter M. 
Wollerson and Lillian D. Lawrence Wollerson and passed from this life to her 
heavenly home on July 9, 2016.

She married the love her life Luther Joel Davis, December 26, 1946. They 
enjoyed 64 years of marriage before his death in 2011. She was "Pentecostal" in 
her faith as was her husband. Together, they served many years on different 
committees for Mer Rouge Road Pentecostal Church in Bastrop. She was very 
involved with the youth from the age of 19 until her late 70s. She wrote and 
directed may plays and skits for the youth department and she organized their 
outings, many being held at her home. She was a dedicated Sunday School Teacher 
and was known to many friends and family as a "Prayer Warrior." In the last 
years of her life, she would tell them "I guess I'm still here to pray for 
others." She was a member of Wayside Pentecostal Church, Winnsboro, during the 
last years of her life. But, most of all she was a devoted wife, mother, and 
Mammaw.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Luther Joel Davis; her daughter, 
Brenda Ruth Davis Perkins; and her parents.

Survivors include daughters Gloria June Davis Buie and husband, Rev. Ralph M. 
(Buddy) Buie of Livingston, TX; Jackie Joelene Davis Pickens and husband, Gerry 
Pickens of Vidor, TX; son-in-law Rev. Tim Perkins and wife, Maggie of 
Tylertown, MS; seven grandchildren and eleven great grandchildren. She is also 
survived by one brother, Alvin Wollerson and wife, Maggie of Winnsboro; special 
caregivers: Shelia Peavy, Laurie Toney, Ada Toney, and Deah Martin. She was 
loved by a host of nieces, nephews and friends.

Sons-in-law and grandsons will lovingly serve as pallbearers.
