Interment will follow at Kilpatrick's Serenity Gardens in West Monroe under the direction of Mulhearn Funeral Home, Sterlington Road, Monroe. Mr. Davis passed away Thursday, July 1, 2010, at St Francis Medical Center in Monroe, LA . He was retired from the General Adjustment Bureau, where he served for 39 years as a general adjuster and General Manager of the Monroe office. He worked many claims over the years, including hurricanes and the Texas City disaster in 1947. Mr. Davis graduated from Louisiana Tech in 1940, after which he entered active duty with the US Army. He served his country during World War II as an infantry officer in North Africa and Italy from Oran to Tunis to Rome. He returned home with the rank of Captain CAC, Inf. Mr. Davis has stayed active with his battalion in recent years with many reunions, including as host of the reunion in Baton Rouge in 1998. He has also authored his memoirs of the war; "From Ruston To Genoa - My Military Memoirs" Mr. Davis and his family have been members of the First Presbyterian Church in Monroe for over 60 years, where he taught Sunday School and has served on numerous committees and boards, including Elder and Deacon. "Papaw" has spent his entire adult life as one of the best husbands, fathers, grandfathers and great grandfathers; and has provided strong witness through his faith and constant kindness to all. He is survived by his wife of 63 years, Maxine Stephenson Davis; children, Stephanie Burman and husband Richard, and Jennifer Betts and husband Steve; grandchildren, Rick Burman and wife Heather, Andy Burman, Corbett Betts, Curtis Betts and wife Marie, and Christy Betts Garner and husband Ryan; and great grandchildren, Gracie Burman, Chipper Burman, Reese Betts, and Blake Sargent; and nephew, O.K. "Buddy" Davis. Pallbearers will be Mr. Davis' grandsons and J.J. Huggins and Ryan Garner. Honorary Pallbearers will be Richard Burman, Steve Betts, Christy Betts Garner, Jim Huggins, Jason Huggins, Jon Huggins, Reeves Stephenson, and Leroy Good. Visitation will be Friday evening from 5:00 PM until 7:00 PM at Mulhearn Funeral Home, Sterlington Road, Monroe.
