Mulhearn Funeral Home Sterlington Road, Monroe, LA Funeral services for Walker Dayton, Jr., 27, of Monroe will be held at 2:00 PM Sunday, February 8, 2009 at the Worship Center of First Baptist Church of West Monroe with Rev. Dwight Munn and Rev. Darrell Washam officiating. Interment will follow at Mulhearn Memorial Park Cemetery. Walker passed away on Wednesday, February 4, 2009. He was a member of First Baptist Church of West Monroe, a student at Louisiana Delta Community College, a member of the Louisiana National Guard Unit 528th. He was also a Marine Veteran of the Iraq War, having served two tours. During his military service, he received several awards including Combat Action Ribbon, Global War on Terrorism Expeditionary Medal, Global War on Terrorism Service Medal, Marine Corps Good Conduct Medal, Presidential Unit Citation-Navy, Certificate of Commendation (Individual Award), Sea Service Deployment Ribbon, National Defense Service Medal, and Certificate of Appreciation. Walker was preceded in death by his uncle, Henry F. Dayton; paternal great grandmother, Nellie Little Dayton; maternal grandfather, William Laderle Fowler; paternal grandfather and paternal grandmother, Edward Walker Dayton and Margaret Delio Dayton; favorite cousin, David Mark Dayton. Walker enjoyed the outdoors and was an avid hunter and fisherman and he loved spending time with his son, Cameron. Survivors include his parents, Edward and Vickie Dayton; son, Cameron Walker Dayton; sisters, Amy Michelle Dayton and Christina Brooke Dayton; brother, William Brian Dayton and wife Lissa Giggie Dayton and their two children, Alison and Jackson Dayton; maternal grandmother, Dorothy Hazel Fowler; aunts, Mary Nell Caffey and husband Greg, Tara Dayton, and Renee Fowler Sowell and husband Kevin; uncle, Patrick Dayton and wife Bernadette; cousins, Patrick Dayton, Jr., Steven Dayton, April Dayton, Shannon Dayton, Lauren Sowell, Kara Sowell, and Summer Caffey. Pallbearers will be Gregory Hutts, Andrew Hutts, Larry Howard, Patrick Dayton, Jr., Steven Dayton, and Don Hogan. Honorary pallbearers will be the members of the 528th National Guard. Visitation will be from 3:00 PM until 6:00 PM, Saturday, February 7, 2009 at Mulhearn Funeral Home, Sterlington Road, Monroe.
