He was born August 12, 1912 in Hamburg, AR to the union of Wyly Deal and Mattie Woods Deal. Mr. Deal was an underwater welder in South America in the 1940's. Upon his return to Lake Providence, he opened a Case farm equipment dealership, Deal Motor Company. Before his health declined he was an active community leader in East Carroll Parish serving as Chairman of the Economic Development Board; President of the Rotary Club; Chairman of the E. C. Republican Party and was a Council on Aging Board Member. Mr. Deal had a deep love of community and country, but his greatest love was his family. He was a loving and dedicated husband to Ruby Magee Deal, his wife of 50 years. He took great delight in the lives of his children and grandchildren. He had a quick smile and kind word for everyone he met, and will be greatly missed by all who had the privilege to know him. He is preceded in death by his wife; four sons, Charles Deal, Mike Sumrall, Ken Sumrall and Garland Sumrall; three grandsons, Justin Deal, Butch Sumrall and Danny Hart; three brothers, Baxter, W. C. and Harry Deal and one sister, Mary Cuney Ford. He is survived by one son, Philip Deal and wife Patsy, of West Monroe, LA; four daughters, Felicia Dodd and husband Ron of Austin, TX, Joyce Kendrick and husband Doug of Homer, LA, Sylvia Moore of Brandon, MS and Beverly Baker and husband Rob of Stonewall, LA; two brothers, Wendell Deal of Baton Rouge, LA and Roger Deal of West Monroe, LA; twenty five grand children, thirty five great grandchildren and eighteen great great grandchildren. Visitation will be held from 10:00 AM until Noon Monday at Cox Funeral Home in Lake Providence. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 PM, Monday, December 15, 2008 at the First Baptist Church in Lake Providence with Rev. Bill Bearden and Rev. Mitch Minson officiating. Burial will be in the Lake Providence City Cemetery under the direction of Cox Funeral Home. Pallbearers will be his grandsons, Jason Deal, Heath Hawsey, Skip Moore, Kevin L. Sumrall, Greg Sumrall, Connor Dodd, Cameron Dodd, Kevin R. Sumrall, Charles W. Deal Jr. and Steve Hart.
