LUCY E. CANNON DEAR 

Mulhearn Funeral Home Sterlington Road, Monroe, LA 

Funeral services for Lucy E. Cannon Dear, 83, of Monroe, will be held at 4:00 
PM Sunday, July 19, 2009, in the chapel of Mulhearn Funeral Home, Sterlington 
Road, Monroe with Rev. Warren Eckhardt officiating. Interment will follow at 
Delhi Masonic Cemetery in Delhi, LA. Mrs. Dear was born in Richland Parish to 
Joe Cannon and Cora Royals Cannon on April 3, 1926 and passed away July 16, 
2009. She was married on December 7, 1941 to the late William Douglas Dear and 
resided in Delhi, LA until she moved to Monroe, LA in 1960. Mrs. Dear will be 
remembered as a loving and caring mother, a kind and comforting grandmother, 
but most of all, as "Granny". Mrs. Dear enjoyed gardening, sewing, and 
visiting with family, friends, and cooking for anyone stopping by to enjoy one 
of her infamous homemade biscuits. Mrs. Dear was preceded in death by her 
parents; daughter, Carolyn Douglas, daughter-in-law, Linda Dale Dear; and a 
host of brothers and sisters. Survivors include her sons, William Dear of 
Monroe, LA, and Stanley Dear and wife Hope of Delhi, LA; daughter, Diane 
Womble of Winnsboro, LA; sister, Betty Howard and husband Norman; sister-in-
law, Barbara Cannon; 15 grandchildren, 34 great grandchildren, and three great-
great grandchildren. Pallbearers will be Stan Dear, Will Dear, James Dear, 
Greg Dear, Brian Dear, and Joey Dear. Honorary pallbearers will be Nick Dear 
and Ray Jones
