Visitation will be held at 2:00 PM prior to the service. Alice died on May 13, 2015, in Monroe, Louisiana. She was born on January 13, 1927, in Wytheville, Virginia. Alice was preceded in death by her parents, Carl and Mary Sue Phillippi, and one brother, Carl Phillippi, all of Wytheville, VA, and by two sisters, Mary Louis Phillippi of Rural Retreat, VA, and Arlene Robertson of Pulaski, VA. Alice is survived by two sisters and their families: Nancy Scott of Wytheville, VA, and Barbara Aydelotte of Saint George, UT. She is the mother of Sue Anderson Avery and husband Ronald of Monroe, LA; grandmother of Joshua Avery of West Monroe, LA, and Caleb Avery and wife Veronika of Ft. Worth, TX. Great grandchildren include Logan, Lucas, and Carolyn Avery of Monroe, LA, as well as Aidan and Remi Avery of Ft. Worth, TX. Until her illness, Alice was active in the Carolyn Rose Strauss Senior Center of Monroe where she enjoyed the crochet and craft classes, as well as the other services and activities they provide for seniors of the area. Many friends and family enjoyed the products of her creativity. She was employed as an accountant in Wytheville before moving to Monroe in 1980 and later worked in several capacities at Walmart in Monroe. Alice requested that any memorials be made to the Senior Center of Monroe. The family would like to thank the staff of Ouachita Rehabilitation Center of Monroe for their understanding and support during Alice's stay with them as well as Hospice Compassus for their expertise and compassion during Alice's last days.
